Fantastic Italian – Ermilio’s Italian Home cooking

February 7th, 2011 by Sam Feldman

If you have ever been to Eureka Springs – and even if you haven’t yet – everybody has heard about Ermilio’s Italian Home Cooking.

Winner of Best Italian Restaurant – All Around Arkansas and Best Restaurant – In Eureka Springs, Arkansas Times 2010 Readers Choice Awards, Ermilio’s serves fine Italian food in a comfortable homey (yet very romantic!) atmosphere. We love the Pesto Bread Rounds as an appetizer (Whole-grain bread slices spread with fresh pesto, covered with mozzarella cheese, broiled, then topped with fresh tomato slices. Served hot!) and the fact that you get to pick your sauce first, then the pasta that you want it to go on. Sam loves Mom’s Homemade Meatballs and usually has it put on Mostaccioli. Saturday is Meat Lasagna night and is to die for! And there is always hot bread on the table, along with a huge bowl of roasted garlic that you can smash and spread on your bread – but be careful, we always know at breakfast how much garlic you’ve had! But it’s worth it.

During the season, especially on weekends, Ermilio’s is very crowded and we usually advise guests to go very early, at 5:00. If you do get there later and there is a wait, they open up the neatest little bar in the attic at the top of their historic little Victorian house. There are all kinds of cute, quaint seating and lots of games that you can play while you wait and sip your cocktail.

Ermilio’s takes no reservations, so don’t even ask. But it’s worth the wait for a unique restaurant that is starting out in their 21st year when they re-open this week, just in time for Valentine’s romance, Friday, February 11th.

During the season with beautiful weather, Ermilio’s is walkable from Bridgeford House B&B, especially afterwards when you want to walk off all those calories!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!
