Olden Days Carriage Rides – Live the Romance!

July 16th, 2012 by Sam Feldman

For either romance or a fantastic tour of downtown Eureka Springs, take a one-of-a-kind carriage ride with Olden Days Carriage Services. For $40 per couple for a 30-minute ride (and sometimes longer), it’s money well spent!

Book a carriage ride through Bridgeford House Bed and Breakfast!

Owner Tom Tharp is a 4th-generation Eurekan and excels at offering a “historical carriage tour” rather than your run-of-the-mill sitting behind a horse. He will tell you all kinds of secrets about Eureka Springs, historical and otherwise, that will surprise and delight you. An especially enjoyable time is during the winter time, with Christmas lights up and a heated blanket wrapped around you. Champagne or sparkling juices are permitted on the carriages (bring your own – they¬† cannot sell it). Hot beverages are permitted as long as they come in a mug/cup with a lid on it. So you can be just as comfy as you like. (They do offer a $20 15-minute carriage ride without the history, but trust me, you’ll be missing a lot. However, if you just want to concentrate on your loved one, that may be just what you want!)

Tom or one of his other carriage drivers will pick you up at other places along the historical loop (such as yours truly, Bridgeford House Bed & Breakfast) for an additional fee. See their website for all their pricing. Olden Days supports our troops and offers a $10 off discount to active or retired military. They also prefer reservations for a ride to be made ahead of time, which will make best use of your time and theirs. We are happy to add on a ride to your reservation here at our inn and/or make your reservation for you when you stay with us. Of course, just about any place in Eureka offers weddings and Olden Days Carriages is not exception.

Watch Tom’s site for his future book, “You Might be a Tourist…”, detailing some of the funny questions that Tom has been asked over the years. His recent favorite is “Do people actually live here?” (What, do you think we commute from Branson??)

Whatever the reason to spend an evening enjoying Tom’s rides, you won’t be disappointed. There’s a whole different world out there in the evening seen from the back of a carriage.

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!
