Eagle Watch and Fall Folliage in Eureka Springs, AR

September 10th, 2012 by Sam Feldman

It’s almost here – the most glorious time here in the Ozarks, the fall. The colors are gorgeous, the weather is cool and so enjoyable, and the eagles are flying – yep, we do have eagles!

From October 1-31, expert guides with 23 years experience will take you on a lovely ride aboard the Belle of the Ozarks where they will tell passengers about the Bald Eagle’s features, habitats and help to sight the eagles on the 1-hour and 15 minute cruise. Complete with restroom and concessions aboard, this is a relaxing way to view nature at its best – with the fall foliage and a wonderful way to see one of God’s most magnificent creatures. Come stay with us at the Bridgeford House B&B in Eureka Springs and we’ll make sure you know how to get there and when the tours are. It’s not to be missed!

Warmest regards,

Eureka Springs Web Cam – Live!

February 26th, 2012 by Sam Feldman

We know not everyone is lucky enough to live in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, but you can always see what’s going on! Check out Eureka’s live webcam site and see what’s happening downtown, what the weather’s like, if there’s a parade going on, and even what Beaver Lake looks like on that day.

Web Cam 1 is just down from the Basin Park area (near Spring and Main), Web Cam 2 is Spring St., right at Pendergrass corner (at the Eureka Grill, looking up towards the Post Office), Web Cam 3 is right at Spring and Center (looking at the Basin Park Hotel and the Flatiron Flats building), Web Cam 4 is beautiful Beaver Lake and Web Cam 5 is Spring St., at Pendergrass corner, looking the other way (away from the post office), past the New Orleans Hotel. Each Web Cam page has facts and figures, some features on some of our local musicians, Beaver Lake information, and some on the history of Eureka Springs.

So if you can’t make it here, never fear. You’re never too far away.

But we always look forward to visits from folks that stay here at the Bridgeford House Bed and Breakfast and remember, you can walk right down to any of these spots easily – or just stay right on our front porch and watch the world go by you!

Belle of the Ozarks Beaver Lake Cruises

July 18th, 2011 by Sam Feldman

For 22 seasons, the Belle of the Ozarks has been treating visitors to awesome views and the interesting history of  beautiful Beaver Lake from the deck of their large boat. View the sparkling clear water of Beaver Lake (well known to scuba divers in the area) and enjoy miles of panoramic shoreline. You can enjoy an informative narrative, spiced with humor, covering a dozen points of interest.

See Beaver Dam, Whitehouse Bluffs, a submerged homestead, the Ozark Bluff Dweller’s burial ground and a two hundred acre game preserve island. You can often see deer swimming in the lake and bald eagles return every year when fall foliage color peaks.

There are restrooms and concessions on board. Tickets are $20 for adults and $8 for children under 12 – and worth every penny! Cruise times are 11, 1 and 3 every day except Thursday, May through October.

This is a lovely addition to a visit to Eureka Springs and only a 1/2 hour drive from us. Come check it out in the fall, when the trees around the high bluffs of the lake are at the most gorgeous!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

For those of you who have visited with us, hopefully we sent you on a driving tour. Eureka Springs in Northwest Arkansas has some of the most beautiful countryside in the continental United States. Green, glorious mountains, two sparkling and very active rivers, the White River and the Kings River (canoeing and floating are available during season), and two exceptional lakes for boating and fishing, Beaver Lake and Tablerock Lake. Everywhere are incredible, breath-taking views of the Ozark mountains.

One of our favorite side trips that we like to send people on is over to Beaver Bridge on the White River, about a 5 minute drive from the Bridgeford House B&B. This is a rare example of a one-lane suspension bridge in Arkansas, built in 1943. Called the “Golden Gate of the Ozarks,” this historic swinging bridge is the last one in Arkansas open to vehicular traffic and is referred to as “the bridge to nostalgia.” The structure was featured in the 2005 movie, “Elizabethtown.” As you can see from this photo, the beauty of the surrounding area cannot be matched.

Come see us and we’ll make sure you know how to get there!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!
